Synopsis
In 1626, Rolette Revilliod was burned alive by the Republic of Geneva. Her crime? She had been tried and condemned for witchcraft. Through her story, we work to restore the memory of the thousands of people persecuted and executed in Switzerland at the same time. This performance is an act of restoration and a call to transform a misogynistic legacy. With force and tenderness, depth and lightness, humour and seriousness, Brûle sorcière ! takes you on a musical journey through time. The work was created in the very church where Rolette was imprisoned for 11 years.
